The Institute also serves to establish and
preserve industry standards and practices – and ensures that all
its members uphold these principles.
A Clearly Defined Mission
The CICA has a clearly defined Mission Statement designed to
ensure it is always serving the interests of society, the CA
profession, and its members. It reads as follows:
- enhancing the quality and credibility of
financial and other information produced and used in the
private and public sectors for measuring and enhancing
organizational performance;
- helping our members add value to their
customers/employers by providing, in harmony with provincial
institutes/ordre, market information and professional services
and products;
- offering a reliable and respected source of
public policy advice and comment
CICA also serves a valuable international
role, representing Canadian Chartered Accountants around the
globe and promoting consistent and high-quality standards. CAs
are the only professional accountants in Canada with reciprocity
agreements across the world, including the leading accounting
organizations in the United States and Mexico, Australia and New
Zealand, England and Wales, France, Belgium and Netherlands,
Ireland and Scotland, South Africa, Hong Kong and Japan.
